Proposed Changes in DCSD Fundraising Policy - Feedback Needed

The Kingsley PTO is strongly encouraging all parents to please read through and provide feedback regarding the proposed policy and regulation changes as it relates to fundraising at school.  Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Parents:  The DeKalb County Board of Education (BOE) is considering changes to the DCSD policy on school-related fundraising.  Changes to the current policy could affect what is permissible as well as how organizations such as PTA/PTSAs, School Foundations, and other organizations fundraise.  New changes could also impact the evolving arena of crowd-sourcing in schools through vehicles such as (for example) Go Fund Me.

The DeKalb BOE and School District are seeking parent and community stakeholder input on the new proposed policy.  Please see below for an invitation to comment from the DCSD Chief Communications & Community Outreach Officer.  The message provides links to the proposals being considered.  When you open those links, you'll see the draft policy as well as a comment box where you can submit comments.

Comments can be submitted through June 30, 2017.  This issue will be discussed during the July 10th Board of Education meeting.

Organizations and individuals may want to consider how this policy would affect your current school-related fundraising activities, and communicate what is most important to you in fundraising policies as the BOE moves forward with consideration of this issue.

DCSD Fundraising/Solicitations Proposed Policy

A proposed revision to Board Policy KEB related to Fundraising (Solicitations) and accompanying Regulation KEB-R(1) was presented to the Board of Education at the May 15, 2017  meeting. That policy  and regulation are now available for public comment at the following links:

The comment field is located at the bottom of the webpage. Alternatively, please visit the Board of Education homepage at https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/index.aspx?s=4054. Links to proposed policies and regulations available for public comment are listed on the right hand side of the page.  The District welcomes your input as we work together to create a policy and regulation to best serve and support DeKalb County School District students.  Please provide all comments by  June 30, 2017 for review and consideration by the Board prior to the July 10, 2017 meeting.
